Public Services (Social Value) Act

The Public Services (Social Value) Act came into force on 31 January 2013. It requires people who commission public services to think about how they can also secure wider social, economic and environmental benefits. In June 2018, central government announced it would go further and explicitly evaluate social value when awarding most major contracts with a minimum weighting of 10% to be applied.

Our AI-assisted transformation programme delivery with wellbeing support and training modules are wholly aligned with Government social value ambitions, specifically:

Theme 2: Tackling economic inequality to create new jobs and new skills

• Create employment and training opportunities particularly for those who face barriers to employment and/or who are located in deprived areas, and for people in industries with known skills shortages or in high growth sectors.
• Support educational attainment relevant to the contract, including training schemes that address skills gaps and result in recognised qualifications.

Theme 5: Improve health and wellbeing

• Demonstrate action to support health and wellbeing, including physical and mental health, in the contract workforce.
• Implement the 6 standards in the Mental Health at Work commitment including:
• Demonstrate senior ownership and drive board-level accountability, underpinned by a clear governance structure for reporting.
• Routinely monitor employee mental health and wellbeing using available data.
• Seek feedback from your employees and create clear opportunities to make improvements based on feedback.
• Create opportunities for employees to feed back when work design, culture and conditions are driving poor mental health.
• Encourage openness throughout employment so appropriate support can be provided.
• Raise awareness of the resources and tools available.
